808s basically pioneered the confessional hip hop genre. Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreaks and My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy - I don’t really like his music any more, but I’ll admit it’s extremely influential and well produced. You’ll recognise some of it if you’re a fan of The Boondocks. Madvillain’s Madvillainy - Massively influential collaboration between a massively influential MC (MF DOOM) and DJ (Madlib). And When I Get Home makes great use of loops to create a beguiling trip. Solange’s When I Get Home - Yeah she’s Beyonce’s sister, but her music is way more adventurous.
I’d check out Twin Fantasy, too, which is a classic of the gay furry concept album genre (though How to Leave Town is my favourite). I was horribly depressed at the time, mind you. First time I heard it, I listened to it on repeat for a week straight.
Also got rid of the quote formatting because it looked bad lol): Otherwise here's a list of albums I recommended on another post (feel free to ignore the stuff like or whatever it was relevant to the original post. You could check out this playlist I just made that, where I'd say most of the music on it comes from great albums (there are a few songs here and there that aren't from full albums, but only a few):
